Rivera Tennis Coaches Players who learned to teach.

Between them, our coaches have played at the ATP, ITF and NCAA levels. What matters more is that they know how to teach, from a child's first swing to a college recruit's final push.

Ivett Donoso, Coach & Operations Manager at Rivera Tennis Academy.

Ivett Donoso

Coach & Operations Manager

Ivett brings both a playing career and the running of the academy to her role. A former college All-American and MVP, she competed in singles and doubles, reached the number one ranking at Nova, and earned a place at Nationals as a singles player.

She holds a degree in Business Administration and co-owns the academy, managing its administrative side while still coaching - the schedule, the groups, and where each player is placed.

Her view, formed over years of competing, is that tennis builds character and teaches lessons that carry as much off the court as on it.

Sebastian Trujillo, Tennis Coach at Rivera Tennis Academy.

Sebastian Trujillo

Tennis Coach

Sebastian was born in Bogota, Colombia, and developed his game over eight years at Rivera Tennis Academy, so he now coaches the program he came up through. He has been on the coaching staff for two years and is a Level 2 RSPA coach.

He played ITF junior events at a ranking of 2300, and was a hitting partner at the ATP Houston 250 in both 2022 and 2023; in 2023 he trained with Denis Kudla, Dustin Brown and Daniel Galan.

Devin Mendez, Tennis Coach at Rivera Tennis Academy.

Devin Mendez

Tennis Coach

Devin trained with Alfredo for five years before joining the coaching staff. He earned a top 50 national ranking in the USTA Men’s Open division and a top 5 ranking in Texas in 2024, and carried a UTR of 9 into 2025.

He has played ITF events, reached a ranking of 15 on the French circuit, and competed collegiately at Atlantis University in NCAA Division II.

He is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting at the University of Houston, and still competes with the aim of playing professionally.

His motto is “whatever you do, do it to your best ability”, and he asks his students for the same hard work and respect.

Perla Gomez, Tennis Coach at Rivera Tennis Academy.

Perla Gomez

Tennis Coach

Perla is a Mexican-American coach who specialises in fundamentals for red and orange ball players - the two stages Mini Tennis runs on.

She came to coaching through her own children, who started at Rivera Tennis Academy, so she has sat where the parents sit and approaches the job from that side of the fence too.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Preschool Education and has four years of playing experience of her own, and blends the teaching qualification with the tennis to keep a first lesson engaging.

Her motto: live each day as if your life had just begun.

Asiria Martinez, Tennis Coach at Rivera Tennis Academy.

Asiria Martinez

Tennis Coach

Asiria followed her older sister into the game and grew up at Rivera, training here through her summers. She captained her high school varsity team to four district championships and reached the UIL 6A regionals more than once.

An RSPA-certified instructor, she is finishing a degree in Management Information Systems at the University of Texas at Austin, where she plays for the Texas Club Tennis Longhorns.

  • Rivera Tennis academy is the best of the best when it comes to Tennis lesson. My son started his lessons here in late August taking private lessons under Coach Devin!! This is the first of any sport my son is playing and we were bit unsure how he might like it. Coach Devin has proved us that these were just our mere concerns. Our son has thrived under Coach Devin’s leadership and training. He is soo patient with our son and works with him at his level. It’s only been few months but our son has come a long way in the world of tennis. Coach Devin is also a very kind and respectful young man! Thank you Ivett for assigning him as our son’s coach. You will never get judged here at the court. Everyone encourages and is kind to each other.

  • I seriously wish I had found this place YEARS ago. They have great dedicated coaches who focus on technique while still making sure everyone in the class has a good time. Students are given time with different coaches (including conditioning!) And often get one-on-one attention. The biggest plus for me is that my kids and I can have our own classes at the same time...so everyone wins!

  • I can't say enough great things about this Rivera Tennis Academy! The coaches here are absolutely wonderful—each one brings a unique combination of expertise, passion, and positivity that makes learning both fun and effective. They truly care about the progress of each player, providing personalized attention and guidance tailored to individual needs. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced player, the coaches are always there to motivate you, offer constructive feedback, and help you achieve your goals. The atmosphere is welcoming and supportive, and I always leave feeling more confident in my skills. I highly recommend this academy to anyone looking to improve their tennis game or to even learn the game of tennis. Cheers-Tony
